Milestones

1956

The medical device industry in Suzhou merged 63 small workshops to establish the Suzhou Medical Device Factory.

1961

Developed 103 ophthalmic surgical instruments, including the linear blade, thereby meeting the needs of ophthalmic surgery in China and laying a solid professional foundation for the company’s engagement in the ophthalmic medical device sector.

1965

The National Ministry of Health designated Suzhou Medical Device Factory as the nation’s sole specialized manufacturer of ophthalmic medical devices and also recognized it as one of the country’s six key medical device production centers.

1973

Developed China’s first slit‑lamp microscope, breaking the foreign technology monopoly; it was hailed by ophthalmologists as the “pride‑of‑the‑nation lamp,” and several training courses on the application of slit‑lamp microscopy were subsequently organized.

1983

Developed the YZ20 surgical microscope.

1991

Developed an artificial intraocular lens.

1999

Developed an excimer laser ophthalmic treatment device and was awarded the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award.

2001

The company was restructured and established as 66 Vision Tech Co., Ltd., and was awarded the title of National High-Tech Enterprise.

2005 to present

The company has spearheaded the drafting of numerous industry standards, including those for indentation tonometers, lacrimal probes, corneal curvature meters, ophthalmic slit‑lamp microscopes, excimer laser corneal refractive treatment devices, ophthalmic forceps, ocular scissors, and synoptophores.
